TAINAN, July 2, 2026 – The Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University (Chula Engineering), initiated a high-level academic and technological mission to Taiwan. A distinguished executive delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean; Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, Assistant Dean for International Affairs; and Mr. Phuwadech Doungmanee, Head of the Office of International Affairs visited National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) today to forge strategic bilateral partnerships in cutting-edge semiconductor design and biomedical engineering.

The visit, organized under the prestigious invitations of NCKU, the University Alliance in Taiwan for International Educational Development (UAiTED), and the Taiwan-Thailand Science and Technology Cooperation Center (TTSTC), aims to bridge Thailand’s premier engineering institution with Taiwan’s world-leading technology ecosystem.

Key highlights from today’s itinerary at NCKU include:
– Biomedical Innovation & Medical Device Cooperation: The delegation visited the Medical Device Innovation Center (MDIC) and was warmly received by Chair Professor Fong-Chin Su, Director of MDIC, alongside a technical tour of the Biomedical Ultrasound System Lab led by Prof. Shyh-Hau Wang, Chair of the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering. The sessions identified crucial research alignments in AI, ultrasound diagnostics, and advanced healthcare devices.
– Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (EECS): Strategic academic meetings were held with Prof. S. Felix Wu, Dean of the College of EECS, and Prof. Chin-Lung Yang, Vice Chair of the Department of Electrical Engineering, focusing on joint institutional growth and curriculum internationalization.
– Deep-Dive into Semiconductor Technology (AISSM): The delegation visited the Academy of Innovative Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing (AISSM), holding extensive technical exchanges with Assoc. Dean Prof. Yu-Lung Lo and key program directors—including Prof. Shuenn-Yuh Lee, Prof. Tzuen-Hsi Huang, Assoc. Prof. Chih-Hung Kuo (IC Design Program), and Assoc. Prof. Jui-Nung Liu (Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology Program) to establish research frameworks in microelectronics and upstream manufacturing techniques.
– Advanced Research & Multi-Lateral Dialogues: The delegates also visited the Digital Health and Biorobotics Lab supervised by master’s students, and conducted further technical exchanges at the Motion Analysis Lab by Chair Professor Fong-Chin Su.
– High-Level Executive Reception: The Chula Engineering delegates were received by NCKU’s top leadership, including Chair Professor Yung-Chun Lee, Vice President of NCKU; Distinguished Professor Chyan-Deng Jan, Dean of the College of Engineering; Professor Wen-Tai Chiu, Vice President for International Affairs; and Professor Sheng-Chih Shen, Vice President for Education, reaffirming a powerful long-term commitment to institutional collaboration.
