Bangkok, 16th June 2026 –Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen collaboration in technology research, innovation, and ICT talent development. The partnership aims to accelerate Thailand’s digital transformation through joint initiatives in 5G-Advanced and beyond, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), fiber broadband, and digital power technologies together with ICT talent development.

The agreement reinforces a longstanding collaboration between Huawei and Chulalongkorn University and establishes a framework for joint research, technology validation, innovation development, and industry-academia knowledge exchange. It also seeks to strengthen Thailand’s digital workforce by expanding opportunities for students to develop future-ready skills and pursue careers in high-demand technology fields.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended by executives from both organizations, including Mr. Austin Zheng Chaowu, Deputy Managing Director and Head of ICT MSSD, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Mr. Woragarn Likhitdechasakdi, Chief Technology Officer, ICT MSSD, Huawei Technologies (Thailand) Co., Ltd.; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chaodit Aswakul, Head of Electrical Engineering Department, Chulalongkorn University, and Asst. Under the MoU, Huawei and Chulalongkorn University will collaborate on technology research, proof-of-concept validation, and the development of industry-focused applications across key digital domains. The partnership will also promote knowledge exchange between academia and industry, helping accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies and strengthening Thailand’s innovation ecosystem.

The new agreement builds upon several successful joint innovation initiatives undertaken since 2020. These include pioneering projects such as 5G-enabled medical robotics, 5G virtual reality learning platforms, and 5G smart classroom solutions that have demonstrated the transformative potential of advanced connectivity across education and healthcare sectors.

In 2025, Huawei and Chulalongkorn University achieved another significant milestone by successfully conducting one of the Asia-Pacific region’s first 5G-Advanced technology trials using the U6GHz spectrum band, achieving download speeds exceeding 10 Gbps. The achievement demonstrated the potential of next-generation mobile communications to support emerging AI-driven applications, immersive digital experiences, and industrial digitalization.
