A*STAR and representatives from Singaporean universities discussed the possible collaboration with Chula Engineering
On September 4, 2023, Prof. Anongnat Somwangthanaroj, Ph.D. (Associate Dean for Research Affairs), along with Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), and Assoc. Prof. Chotirat Ratanamahatana, Ph.D. (Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs), Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, welcomed the representatives from A*STAR, Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore, including Ms.Tay Chay Wah (Executive Director, A*STAR Graduate Academy), Ms Jamie Low (Senior Manager, International Awards, A*STAR Graduate Academy), Prof. Lee Pooi See (Associate Provost (Graduate Education) and Dean, Graduate College, NTU), Prof. Caroline Lee (Vice Dean (Outreach and Admissions), NUS Graduate School, NUS), Mr. Lincoln Leong (Communications and Digital Outreach Executive, NUS), and Prof. Soh Ghim Song (Director of Education, SUTD) at  Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. Furthermore, representatives discussed with Chula Engineering ways to cooperate in the ARAP Research program and SIPGA for the Pre-Graduated internship program and supporting activities from A*STAR and other future activities.

Prof. Duangdao Wichadakul, Ph.D. (Associate Head for Research of the Department of Computer Engineering) Assoc. Prof. Wanchai Rivepiboon, Ph.D. (Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering), Faculty of Engineering; and Assoc. Prof. Rajalida Lipikorn, Ph.D. (Professor of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science), Faculty of Science, Chulalongkorn University, welcomed the representatives from The National Institute of Informatics (NII), Japan, including Prof. Emmanuel Planas, Ph.D. (Acting Director of the Global Liason Ofice of The National Institute of Informatics) at  Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on ways to collaborate with the researcher internship program and support activities from NII, especially in computer engineering and related fields.

Chula Engineering Hosts Successful Visit from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, Strengthening International Collaboration
July 18, 2023 – Bangkok, Thailand: Chula Engineering, under the esteemed leadership of Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, the Dean of Chula Engineering, had the distinct honor of extending a warm welcome to a distinguished delegation from National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Taiwan, led by Prof. Nyan-Hwa Tai, Senior Vice President. The visit, which took place on July 18, 2023, marked an important milestone in fostering multi-aspect collaboration between the two renowned institutions. The event commenced with a cordial Welcome Address by Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, who expressed delight in hosting the esteemed guests from NTHU and emphasized the importance of international partnerships in advancing research and academic excellence. Prof. Nyan-Hwa Tai reciprocated the warm welcome and introduced the delegation from National Tsing Hua University. This introduction provided an opportunity for both institutions to gain insights into each other’s strengths and areas of expertise, laying the groundwork for fruitful collaboration in the future. The ensuing discussions centered around exploring possibilities for Multi-aspect Collaboration among NTHU and Chula Engineering. Inje University Delegation, Led by Prof. Kim Tae Gu, Explores Innovation at Chula Engineering
July 6, 2023 – Bangkok, Thailand: A delegation of esteemed faculty members and students from Inje University, South Korea, accompanied by Prof. Kim Tae Gu, arrived at Chulalongkorn University to explore innovative initiatives at the Faculty of Engineering. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs at Chula Engineering. The visit commenced with an introduction to the renowned “Chula Engineering” and its cutting-edge facilities. One of the highlights of the tour was the unveiling of the revolutionary “CU Red Castle” application. This innovative application utilizes mini robots with a 3D map to guide visitors on an interactive tour around the faculty premises, providing a unique and immersive experience.   The delegation then embarked on a real faculty tour, commencing at the Chula Engineering Library, where they were introduced to the new concept of “learn-live-rest.” This concept emphasizes the seamless integration of learning, living, and leisure spaces, fostering a conducive environment for academic and personal growth. The “Making of Innovatist Center” showcased the faculty’s commitment to technological advancements. On August 28, 2023, Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, D.Eng. (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Tawatchai Charinpanitkul, D.Eng. (Associate Dean of Academic Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), and Prof. David Banjerdpongchai (Deputy Director of Innovation for Education and Research of International School of Engineering (ISE)) welcomed Prof. Li-Wei Chen (Vice President of the Office of International Affairs at National Formosa University) and Ms. Hsieh Wan-Ting (Thailand-Taiwan Coordinator in National Formosa University) from National Formosa University at Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on the opportunities for internship training programs and the possibility of collaboration in student exchange between National Formosa University and the Faculty of Engineering of Chulalongkorn University.

On August 23, 2023, Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, D.Eng. (Dean of Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Tawatchai Charinpanitkul, D.Eng. (Associate Dean of Academic Affairs), and Assoc. Prof. Naebboon Hoonchareon, Ph.D. (Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering) welcomed Mr. David Sun (Chairman of Board), Prof. Ru-Jen Lin (Vice-President of office of Administrative Affairs),  Dr. Chung-Lin Huang (Dean, Office of International and strait cooperation), and Dr. Xi-Rui Chu (Office of International and Cross-strait cooperation) from Lunghwa University of Science and Technology at Meeting Room 116/3, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on the occasion in the grace period of student exchange with the Department of Electrical Engineering and the possibility of collaboration in joint double degree between Lunghwa University of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Engineering of Chulalongkorn University.

On August 24, 2023, Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, D.Eng. (Dean of Faculty of Engineering),  Prof. Tawatchai Charinpanitkul, D.Eng. (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs), and Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs) of Chula Engineering, welcomed Asst. Prof. Mag Yao (Director Division of Overseas Recruitment and Admission Office of International and Cross-Strait Affairs Director Chinese Language Education Center (CLEC)) and Novianty (Senior Student from the Dept. of Applied Foreign Languages) from Tatung University, Taiwan, at Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on student exchange opportunities, double degree programs, and future collaboration between Tatung University and Chula Engineering.

On July 6, 2023, Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, D.Eng. (Dean of Chula Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Boonchai Sangpetngam, Ph.D. (Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering) and Asst. Prof. Chayut Ngamkhanong, Ph.D. (Professor of the Department of Civil Engineering) welcomed the representatives from Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU), including Prof. MA Lei (Director, Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges) and Assoc. Prof. XIN Ling (Director, Tianyou Railway Institute) at Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on the possibility of collaboration in student group exchange and collaborative research between Southwest Jiaotong University and the Faculty of Engineering of Chulalongkorn University.

Leave a Nest Singapore and Chula Engineering signed MoU: Making the first step to nurture talent, and future innovators.
On 21st July 2023, Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, Thailand. This MoU formalized the partnership between the two parties to support students, researchers and startups coming out from the university. The MoU was signed by Mr. Shohei Michael Maekawa (Director, Leave a Nest Singapore Pte. Ltd.) and Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, D.Eng. (Dean of Chula Engineering). The signing was witnessed by Mr. Yukihiro Maru, Ph.D. (Founder/Group CEO, Leave a Nest Co., Ltd.) and Prof. Tawatchai Charinpanitkul, D.Eng. (Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Chula Engineering). With the ongoing progress of the innovation ecosystem in Thailand, it becomes essential to establish a platform that fosters the growth of students, researchers, and startups to facilitate continued development. Moreover, helping them to get out of their “comfort zone” and be able to further explore ways in how they can bring innovative solutions to society. Under this MoU framework, part of the understanding is including co-creation of programmes and activities to nurture students, researchers and spin off startups from science and technology point of view.
