Ms. Lise Talbot-Barré, Cultural and Cooperation Counselor of the French Embassy in Thailand, and Professor Dr. Wilert Puriwat, President of Chulalongkorn University, presided over the celebration ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of the partnership between the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, led by Associate Professor Dr. Wittaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty, and ECAM LaSalle, a leading engineering school in France, represented by President Mr. Didier Desplanche. The ceremony was held at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, with the presence of distinguished guests from academia, government, and private sectors, as well as representatives from French industrial companies led by Mr. Patrice Pischedda, President of the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce.
.
Since the beginning of their collaboration in 2014, this partnership has been a cornerstone of academic excellence and international cooperation for the past decade. The collaboration has been marked by successful student exchange programs and innovative educational initiatives that have enriched the academic experience for both students and faculty.
.
Key Achievements of the Collaboration:
– Student Exchange and Internships: The program has provided invaluable international experiences to students, equipping them with a global perspective and enhancing their professional opportunities. Over 50 students from ECAM LaSalle have studied at the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University over the past 10 years, and nearly 20 Thai students have had the opportunity to study at ECAM LaSalle in Lyon, France.
– Exchange of Teaching Techniques and Expertise: Faculty members from both institutions have shared knowledge and effective teaching methodologies, creating a more enriching learning environment and driving engineering skills forward in response to global changes.
.
This collaboration not only focuses on academic excellence but also fosters deeper cultural understanding between Thailand and France, strengthening relationships between institutions and laying the foundation for future cooperation that addresses the evolving needs of global engineering.
.
Associate Professor Dr. Wittaya Wannasuphoprasit, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, stated: “The past decade has been an incredible journey of innovation and mutual growth. Our partnership with ECAM LaSalle has set a high standard for international academic collaboration, and we are excited to continue building on this strong foundation. Moving forward, we will focus more on working with the industry. These collaborations create win-win opportunities, aligning the university’s research and innovation capabilities with private sector needs, which not only advances the industry but also provides opportunities for students and researchers to work on projects that have a real-world impact.”
.
Mr. Didier Desplanche, President of ECAM LaSalle, added: “Our 10-year collaboration with Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Engineering is a testament to the power of global partnerships in engineering education. We look forward to continuing our joint efforts and exploring new opportunities for research and student development. At ECAM LaSalle, we emphasize learning through collaboration with the industry, ensuring our students gain practical experience working with leading industries. We also focus on fostering innovation and management skills. Future cooperation examples include joint startup ventures, co-innovation projects, consulting, and problem-solving for industries.”
.
Mr. Patrice Pischedda, President of the Franco-Thai Chamber of Commerce, noted: “As the French Chamber of Commerce in Thailand, our role is to promote collaboration with Thai partners and institutions so that our members, mostly French companies based in Thailand, can work more efficiently. One key focus is recruiting and training skilled personnel, especially high-quality engineers. Therefore, we encourage and support close collaboration and exchange of information and perspectives with educational institutions to ensure that the new generation of talents can work effectively in the real world.”
.
The next step is to further strengthen collaboration with both Thai and French industries in Thailand and France. These collaborations will focus on research, innovation, technology transfer, and addressing social and industrial challenges. Key cooperation areas include research and development, technology transfer and innovation, internships and personnel development, consulting and problem-solving, as well as joint laboratories and research centers.
