On May 10, 2023, Prof. Tawatchai Charinpanitkul, D.Eng. (Associate Dean of Academic Affairs), Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), Ms. Sukalin Wanakasemsan (Director of the Global Academic Affairs Division) and Jing Tang, D.Eng. (Lecturer of International School of  Engineering) welcomed Prof. Qin Chengqiang (Dean of International College), Ms. Liu Li (Dean Assistant of International College), Mr. Li Jiajun (Director Dept of International Cooperation and Exchange), and Ms. Tanaporn Khotphat (Thai Teacher of International College) from Guangxi Engineering University at Meeting Room 213, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on the opportunities and possibility of collaboration in double degree on information between Guangxi University and Faculty of Engineering of Chulalongkorn University.

During March 12-25, 2023 – Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU), Japan, and Chula Engineering organized the students’ short-term exchange program, so-called “AGU Program 2023”. The program brought together Japanese students from AGU and Thai students from Chula Engineering for a unique cultural experience to promote friendship, cultural understanding, and international cooperation. The exchange program allowed students from Aoyama Gakuin University to study at Chula Engineering, experience campus life, and participate in cultural activities. The program provided an opportunity for all students to learn about the culture, language, and customs of their Thai and Japanese counterparts, gain valuable insights into their respective fields of study, and develop lifelong friendships. The program enabled our students to experience the rich culture and academic excellence of Chula Engineering while building lasting relationships with their Thai buddies. We believe this program created a bridge of understanding and friendship between the two nations. The exchange program was run from March 12 to 25, 2023, and involved 12 students from AGU and 14 students from Chula Engineering. Participants were selected based on their academic achievements, language proficiency, and willingness to learn and engage with their counterparts. On March 22, 2023, Prof. Supot Teachavorasinskun, D.Eng. (Dean of Chula Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), and Jing Tang, D.Eng. (Lecturer of International School of Engineering) welcomed Prof. Nobuhiro Hayashi, Ph.D. (Vice President for International Affairs), Mr. Tatsuya Mizukoshi (Director Tokyo Tech ANNEX Bangkok) from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, at Meeting Room 116/2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. There was a discussion about collaboration in terms of potential entrepreneur and technology-related collaborative courses and platforms.  

On March 29, 2023, Mr. Manapat Weeramongkolkul, an undergraduate student from the Information and Communication Engineering (ICE) Program, International School of Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, was one of the speakers at the 10th Asia-Pacific Forum for Sustainable Development (APFSD). The event was organized at the United Nations Conference Centre Bangkok, Thailand (UNCC – BKK). As Chulalongkorn University’s representative at the “Future Generation: Multi-Stakeholder Roles for Strengthening Space Applications and Sustainable Development” event, Manapat gave a talk about the integration of machine learning and satellite data to create a forest fire solution for disaster risk management, his senior project topic with Ms. Supanida Suwankesawong, an undergraduate student from the Industrial Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. This project is under the Senior Project XD, a special program which allows for cross department collaboration among students from the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. Under the supervision of Jing Tang, D.Eng. (International School of Engineering) and Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Department of Industrial Engineering), the 2 students have been exploring data analysis approaches to develop a smart forest fire warning system, aiming to make it more accessible and useful for communities and organizations in Thailand.

Prof. Dr. Nuttapong Chentanez, Ph.D. (Representative from the Department of Computer Engineering) of Chula Engineering, welcomed Ms. Susan Steer (International Programmes Development Manager), Ms. Tam Le (Regional Market Manager – South East Asia, Africa & Pacific Islands), Assoc. Prof. Steven Mills, Ph.D. (Department of Computer Science) from the University of Otago, and Ms. Jaruwan Pongjaruwat (Director of Education – Thailand, Education New Zealand) from New Zealand Embassy, at Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on the student exchange opportunities and collaboration on information and communication engineering and related areas between Otago University and Chula Engineering.

On March 8, 2023, Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), Prof. Varong Pavarajarn, Ph.D. (Advisor to the Chemical and Process Engieering Program) and Asst. Prof. Pimporn Ponpesh, Ph.D. (Deputy Directer for Student Affairs and Public Relations, International School of Engineering), Chula Engineering, welcomed Mr. FURUICHI Yoshihiro (Head Teacher) and Mr. NAGAI Yusuke (Science Teacher, Career Guidance Division (Asian countries)) from Hiroshima Global Academy, Japan, at Suan Ruam Jai Meeting Room 2, Engineering Building 3, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University. In addition to the introduction of each organization, there was a discussion on the possibility of collaboration in the future between Hiroshima Global Academy and the Faculty of Engineering of Chulalongkorn University. After the meeting, the representatives from Hiroshima Global Academy also visited Chula Engineering Library.

On March 3, 2023, Professor Takayuku Aoki, the Deputy Director of the Global Scientific Information and Computing Center of Tokyo Institute of Technology, Japan, visited the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and gave a presentation at the special seminar at the Department of Civil Engineering, Chula Engineering. There were Professor Anat Ruangrassamee, Ph.D. (Department of Civil Engineering), Assoc. Prof. Natt Leelawat, D.Eng. (Department of Industrial Engineering; and Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs), Asst. Prof. Piyatida Ruangrassamee, Ph.D. (Department of Water Resources Engineering), Tanawat Tangjarusritaratorn, Ph.D. (Department of Water Resources Engineering), Mr. Pongsit Polsomboon (Ph.D. Student of Water Resources Engineering) from Chula Engineering and Asst. Prof. Panon Latcharote, Ph.D. (Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Mahidol University), attended the seminar. The presentation included the applications of computing research using the Super Computer TSUBAME at Tokyo Tech. The potential collaboration was also discussed.
