CALL FOR THE SELECTION OF FULL-TIME PROFESSORS FOR A WEEK EXCHANGE IN THE UNIVERSITAT POLITÈCNICA DE VALÈNCIA (SPAIN)

Chulalongkorn University and the Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) agreed to cooperate on the exchange of students and staff in the context of the Erasmus+KA107 program. https://erasmus-ka107.webs.upv.es/

• What for: The selected lecturers will exchange academic experiences and explore future collaboration in common research fields.

On January 26, 2024, Associate Professor Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs of Chula Engineering, was invited to be a panelist in the ASEAN to Japan Career Fair Symposium at Singapore Management University, Singapore.

The panel topic was “Views of the ASEAN universities – Insights into young talents in Southeast Asia.” The moderator was Professor SATOH Haruko, Ph.D., Director of International Collaboration, ESG Integration Research and Education Center, Graduate School of International Public Policy, Osaka University, Japan. The panelists included Mr. Soo Chai Chew, Senior Assistant Director, Postgraduate Career Services, Singapore Management University, Singapore; Associate Professor Che Rozid Mamat, Ph.D., Director, UTM Career Centre, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia; Associate Professor Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs of Chula Engineering; and Mr. Desmond Woo, Deputy Director, Career & Attachment Office, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

During the symposium, Associate Professor Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., shared his insights on the problems, challenges, and suggestions from the view of Thai academic institutes as well as Chulalongkorn University.

On November 21, 2023, Associate Professor Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs of Chula Engineering, visited Aoyama Gakuin University (AGU) in Japan. The visit aimed to solidify the partnership between the two institutions and discuss future collaborative programs.

Professor David W. Reedy of AGU’s College of Science and Engineering welcomed Assoc. Prof. Natt and discussed the highly successful AGU-Chula 2023 program. The program allows students from both universities to participate joined some classes and exchange cultural perspectives. The meeting also focused on planning the 2024 program to enhance this collaborative initiative further.

Following the discussion, Assoc. Prof. Natt toured Professor MATSUMOTO Toshiyuki’s lab under the guidance of Assistant Professor Nakano. This visit provided valuable insights into AGU’s research activities.

Assoc. Prof. Natt then joined a meeting with Professor CHO Hideo, Dean of AGU’s College of Science and Engineering, Professor Yoneyama, and Professor David W. Reedy. The meeting focused on the AGU Short-Term Internship Program (STIP), which welcomes Chula Engineering students each year for internship opportunities within AGU’s research labs.

This visit to AGU underscores the commitment of both institutions to fostering international collaboration and providing their students with enriching educational experiences. The successful AGU-Chula 2023 program and the ongoing discussions on the 2024 program and AGU STIP demonstrate the strong partnership between Chula Engineering and AGU.

During November 23-24, 2023, Associate Professor Natt Leelawat, D.Eng., Assistant Dean for Communications and International Affairs, Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, participated in the EBA Faculty Meeting 2023 at Keio University, Japan.

The Evidence Based Approach (EBA) program is the international collaboration to develop the multidisciplinary and multicultural program. EBA is a part of the SOI Asia. The mission of SOI Asia is to design a future resilience society in the Asia-Pacific region. Through the EBA, the university members can select the student to join each fieldwork program organized by the university members.

There were 28 representatives from 17 universities who joined the EBA Faculty Meeting 2023. Chula Engineering understands the significance of such international collaboration and the benefits students can earn from joining the program. Chula Engineering is now a member of the EBA program.

The Faculty of Engineering is calling for 12 Chula Engineering (junior and senior) undergraduate students to join the 2100310 Global Awareness for Technology Implementation (#GATI Batch 8). GATI is a 3-credit undergraduate collaborative course between Chula Engineering and the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech, Japan). This year’s theme is Gamification for SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

The course is conducted in English as an international project-based study. Chula Engineering students will work together with Tokyo Tech students. The lectures will be run by professors from Chula Engineering as well as Tokyo Tech and other experts from the field.

In the 1st Semester of the academic year 2023, the GATI course will be every Wednesday (August 9th to November 22nd, 2023) from 12:30 to 15:30 (Bangkok time). Students from Chula Engineering and Tokyo Tech will study together via an online platform. GATI Students from both universities will join the site visits in Thailand (August 29-September 6, 2023) and Japan (Tentatively in December 2023). The enrolled students will be responsible for flight tickets, accommodation (Japan and Thailand), and other expenses. The faculty will provide partial support for the students.
