The Dean of Engineering and the ISE Management Team are currently busy with a 10 day official trip to the USA – the purpose of which is to expand its International Collaborations and Exchange Program under the scheme of Internationalisation. The trip started on the 18th May 2015 and with scheduled visits to various top ranked institutes in the USA such as MIT, Harvard University, University of Chicago, Northwestern University, Penn State University and many more.
Next on the agenda is the NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo to be held during 24th – 29th May 2015 in Boston. Many colleges & universities around the world are scheduled to visit the ISE NAFSA booth. ISE wishes all the success to its team; may this trip result in many more collaborations with universities globally.
On May 18th, the Associate Dean and Acting Director of ISE visited Northwestern University (NU) and met the Northwestern University’s management team: Ms Heather Pardee, the Global Initiatives Program Coordinator under the International Program Development; Prof. Vinayak Dravid Director of NUANCE; Assoc. Prof. Matthew Grayson Co-Director of Global McCormick Initiatives at the School of Engineering; Prof. Michael Bendzyk, Chair of Material Science and Engineering at Evanston Campus. Additionally, we visited the advanced lab facilities and discussed about research and exchange collaborations in the areas of biomedical engineering with Asst. Prof. Ramille Nirav Shah from the Institute of Bio-Nano Technology in Medicine, Surgery (Transplant Division), and Material Science and Engineering at the Simpson Querrey Institute for Bionanotechnology. Apart from the meeting with faculty and administrative staff, we had a chance to meet with PhD researchers and experienced activities organized by young and energized Thai students at NU.
Summing up, the finalized collaborations’ areas comprise of; student faculty exchange; research and industrial collaborations in the field of biomaterial & tissue engineering and energy; as well as collaborative innovations between Chulalongkorn University and Northwestern University. A major part of this first-time successful cooperation is due to the outstanding performance of our Chula Engineering faculty staff whilst reading at the McCormick School of Engineering, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Witaya Wannasuphoprasit (current Head Department of Mechanical Engineering) and Dr.Boonrat Lohwongwatana.
Beyond being the No.1 Engineering School in Thailand, the management team and staff of Chula Engineering are working hard to propel our future forward to ensure Chula Engineering is a world-class engineering faculty under the goal to become the leader in innovation and engineering solutions for the global community.
